The State Line Blanket is knit with super bulky weight yarn so it is quick to knit on big needles.

The State Line Blanket knitting pattern design was inspired by one of the most well known streets in my hometown…Kansas City. Half of our city is in Kansas and the other half in Missouri. As the name implies…State Line Road is the dividing line between the states.

Love the blanket knitting patterns by Fifty Four Ten Studio. Well written patterns + bulky yarn on US size 13 needles = fast FO (finished object).

DIRECTIONS FOR SIX BLANKET SIZES:

Baby Blanket: 30” wide x 31” long
Small Blanket: 33” wide x 36” long
Medium Throw: 37” wide x 46” long
Large Throw: 41” wide x 51” long
XL Afghan: 45” wide x 56” long
XXL Afghan: 49” wide x 61” long

It’s easy to make any of the blanket sizes longer by adding additional pattern repeats. Each repeat adds about 5” to the length of the blanket.

SUPER BULKY #6 WEIGHT YARN:

Baby: 350 - 370 yards
Small: 450 - 475 yards
Medium: 650 - 680 yards
Large: 800 - 830 yards
XL: 960 - 1000 yards
XXL: 1150 - 1200 yards

Pattern includes estimates for additional yardage needed to make blankets longer.

I used Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick in the ‘Fisherman’ colorway. A couple of other great yarn options are Lion Brand Hometown super bulky and Lion Brand Re-Spun Thick & Quick. See more yarn suggestions in my blog post about super bulky yarns.

SKILL LEVEL: Easy

You will need to know how to cast on stitches, knit and purl confidently, bind off stitches and weave in ends.

KNITTING NEEDLES:

You may use either US size 13 or 15 knitting needles.

Pick the needle size that works best for your yarn and knitting tension.

Knit flat, in one piece, back and forth on long circular knitting needles. Circular needles are recommended to accommodate the large number of stitches.

GAUGE:

Approximate gauge in stockinette stitch (after blocking): 8 stitches & 12 rows = 4”

Exact gauge is not essential for this project.

This pattern is written in English using standard U.S. knitting terms.
