I’m having trouble receiving the PDF pattern I purchased.  How do I get help?

First, check your “spam” or “junk” folder for the automated email from FiftyFourTenStudio.com, Ravelry or Etsy.  (Sometimes these automated emails end up in the wrong place by mistake.)  The email will include a link to click and download each PDF pattern purchased.

If you did not receive the link to download the pattern or have any trouble with your transaction… contact Mary Lee at FiftyFourTenStudio@gmail.com. Or, use the contact form at the bottom of this page.

I will make every effort to reply quickly. However, please allow up to 24 - 48 hours for a reply.

Please do not use Instagram or Facebook for customer service messages.

I purchased a pattern on Etsy and the download link does not work.  How do I get the pattern?

If you made a purchase from my Etsy shop and have trouble finding or opening the link to download the pattern… go to your Etsy account and click “Purchases & Reviews” and then click the “Help with Order” button.  Then, write a message regarding how you need assistance.  Or, send an email to Mary Lee at FiftyFourTenStudio@gmail.com.

Please include your email address.  I will email the PDF file(s) to you. I will make every effort to reply quickly. However, there may be times when it takes 24 - 48 hours to receive a reply.

Can I print the PDF pattern after purchasing and downloading it?

Yes!  You may print the PDF pattern for your personal use.  If you need assistance with printing, you may forward the PDF file to a friend or print shop.

PDF and printed patterns are for personal use and may not be distributed to others without permission.

Be sure to save the PDF file to Google Drive, iCloud or your computer, iPad or other device for unlimited future reference.

Do you sell printed copies of Fifty Four Ten Studio patterns?

No. At this time, I only sell digital PDF knitting patterns.  However, many local yarn shops are able to assist with purchasing my patterns via Ravelry for their customers. They may provide printing of the pattern.  Check with your local yarn shop.

Will you mail a printed paper copy of the knitting pattern?

No. I’m sorry I do not provide printing and mailing of my patterns.

SELECTING THE BEST PATTERN FOR YOUR PROJECT

Which blanket knitting pattern is the best for beginning knitters?

Beginning knitters have successfully used almost all of my knitting patterns.  Many beginners say that my patterns have helped them gain confidence in their knitting skills.  If you are a first time knitter… see the blanket knitting patterns that I recommend for beginners in this blog post.

Do you have any reversible knitting patterns?

Yes!  Click here to see all of my reversible scarf knitting patterns.

These blanket knitting patterns feature reversible stitch patterns:

Worsted or Aran #4 Yarn: These Days Blanket, The Days to Come Blanket, Touch of Kindness Blanket, Looking Forward Blanket, Quality Time Blanket and Scarf, and Meadow Lane Blanket (this pattern is free to download every day).

Bulky #5 Weight Yarn: Little Moments Blanket, Together Again Blanket, and Happy Endings Blanket (two sided - looks different but interesting on both sides).

Super Bulky #6 Weight Yarn: Game Time Blanket and The Boulevard Blanket (this pattern is free to download every day).

Which knitting pattern is best for hand-dyed multi-color or variegated yarn?

Here are several knitting pattern suggestions for multi-color or variegated yarns:

My dear friend made a one-of-a-kind baby blanket using the On the Porch blanket knitting pattern and a gorgeous hand-dyed worsted yarn.

The Meadow Lane Blanket (for worsted or Aran yarn) and The Boulevard Blanket (for super bulky yarn) look fabulous with multi-color yarns.  The stitch pattern is simple enough to allow a variegated yarn to be “the star of the show”.  Both of these patterns are free to download every day.

The easy to knit 4-row repeat stitch pattern featured in the Quality Time Scarf & Blanket (for worsted yarn) and the Game Time Scarf & Blanket (for super bulky yarn) works very nicely with multi-color yarns.

Gently variegated yarns with subtle color variation will work well with The Days to Come Blanket and Room with a View Scarf knitting patterns.

KNITTING TECHNIQUES

What cast on method do you use?

I use the long tail cast-on method I learned as a young girl.  I learned to do it with two hands... working the 'long-tail' with my left hand and wrapping the needle with the working yarn with my right hand.  There is a tutorial on PurlSoho.com for the "long tail cast-on thumb method" that is pretty close to how I cast on.

How do you block your finished blanket and scarf knitting projects?

I recommend blocking many of my knitting projects because it dramatically improves the appearance. Blocking makes stitch patterns “pop”, evens out inconsistencies in stitches, and smooths out lumps and puckering. Careful blocking often takes a project from looking “average” to stunning.  Click here to see all of my step-by-step blocking tips.

Can straight needles be used to knit a blanket?

Most likely… no.  Except for very tiny baby blankets, most of the time it’s not possible to fit all of the stitches for knitting a blanket on straight needles.  I highly recommend using circular knitting needles to knit a blanket. Click here to get more details in my blog post about this topic.

Do you have any knitting tutorial videos?

No… I don’t have any knitting videos.  (Perhaps some day but so far it’s just not my thing!) However, click the links to see my other blog post knitting tutorials:
