The Light in the Window blanket is modern, colorful and super easy to knit! The color-block design features five colorways from the Lion Brand Basic Stitch Anti-Pilling yarn collection.

The blanket is knit entirely in garter stitch in three rectangular panels, making it a perfect on-the-go knitting project. This blanket knitting project is a perfect choice for a beginner! If you are an experienced knitter… you’ll love that this blanket is easy to knit while watching a movie or spending time with friends.

The pattern includes step-by-step finishing tips for seaming the three panels, as well as instructions for two blanket sizes.

This is such a pleasant throw to make. It’s done in 3 strips and colors change, so it doesn’t feel so overwhelming. The seaming goes very fast.

Late at night in any neighborhood, at any time of year, one can find residences with a light on in the window.  The light could be on for so many reasons: someone is watching a movie, or reading a good book, or working late to meet a deadline, or studying for school, or caring for a young child… or perhaps the light was left on for a family member who will be arriving home late.  Select a bright or light color for the focal point in the center panel to symbolize the light in the window… a light that represents care and love.

In one of my sample blankets shown, I used Lion Brand Basic Stitch Anti-Pilling yarn in the ‘Mustard’ colorway for Color E as my ‘bright or light’ colorway. In the second blanket I used ‘Beige Heather’ for the light color. See list of all colorways used below.

As of April 2023, this pattern has a rating of 5 out of 5 stars on Ravelry for overall results and clarity of instructions.

If you prefer, this pattern may also be purchased on Ravelry.

This blanket is knit in three panels and then seamed. The PDF pattern includes detailed, step-by-step finishing instructions for sewing up the seams with yarn and a tapestry needle.
