The Belleview Blanket is quick to knit with super bulky weight yarn on big knitting needles.

The Belleview Blanket is named for a street in the neighborhood where I grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. The design reminds me of the charming 1920’s homes lined up on the streets of Brookside in Kansas City.

DIRECTIONS FOR SIX BLANKET SIZES:
Approximate sizes after blocking…

Baby Blanket: 27" wide x 27.5" long
Small Blanket: 34" wide x 36" long
Medium Blanket: 37.5" wide x 38.5" long
Large Throw: 41" wide x 49.5" long
XL Afghan: 48" wide x 54" long
XXL Afghan: 55" wide x 61" long

Any of the blanket sizes may be made longer by adding pattern repeats. Each pattern repeat adds about 2.25” to the length of the blanket. Pattern includes estimates for additional yardage needed to make blankets longer.

SUPER BULKY #6 WEIGHT YARN:

Baby: 320 - 335 yards
Small: 480 - 510 yards
Medium: 560 - 600 yards
Large: 800 - 840 yards
XL: 1010 - 1060 yards
XXL: 1270 - 1370 yards

Be sure to buy additional yarn if you plan to add length to your blanket.

This pattern will work well with many super bulky weight yarns.

The texture of the pattern will show up best with solid color yarns.

For the soft blue blanket shown… I used Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick in the ‘Glacier’ colorway. The pattern will also work well with Lion Brand Re-Spun Thick & Quick. For more yarn suggestions see my blog post about super bulky yarns for blanket knitting.

If you prefer worsted weight yarn…please see my Piece of Home blanket knitting pattern.

NEEDLES:

Knit flat, in one piece, back and forth on US size 13 circular knitting needles.

In order to accommodate the large number of stitches, long circular needles are highly recommended.

I used US size 13 circular knitting needles, 32” in length for a throw size blanket. For a crib or baby blanket, circular needles in a shorter length could be used.

SKILL LEVEL: Easy

You will need to know how to cast on stitches, knit and purl confidently, read a row by row knitting pattern, bind off stitches and weave in ends. Blocking of finished knitting is recommended.

Blocking of the finished blanket is highly recommended. Click here to read about blocking on my blog post.

This pattern is written in ENGLISH using standard U.S. knitting terms.

Written pattern with row by row instructions.
