Meadow Lane Blanket

Meadow Lane Blanket

$0.00

Meadow Lane Blanket is very easy to knit with worsted or Aran weight yarn. At first glance you might think this blanket is simple garter stitch.  Look again!  An easy K4, P4 repeat pattern creates a subtle vertical stripe effect. This easy-to-knit blanket is reversible. It looks exactly the same on both sides.

The PDF pattern includes instructions for six blanket sizes including baby blanket, small lap blanket, cozy throw and extra large afghan.

I found this pattern and absolutely fell in love. I added fringe on the cast-on and bind-off edges. I highly recommend this project for any first-time blanket knitters, or for the experienced knitter looking for an easy and satisfying project.

YARN SUGGESTIONS:

This pattern will work well with many worsted, heavy worsted or Aran weight yarns. The stitch pattern looks interesting with either solid and multi-color yarns.

Lion Brand Basic Stitch Anti-Pilling (100% Acrylic) - This is not your grandmother’s 1970’s acrylic yarn! It’s very soft to the touch… not scratchy or ‘sticky’. I love how this stitch pattern works with this yarn! (See the grey knitted sample in the photo above.) Great stitch definition. Available in more than 30 attractive solid colorways including ‘Silver Heather’, ‘Mustard’ and ‘Turquoise Heather’ (shown in photo above). Machine washable and dryable. Shop: LionBrand.com | Amazon

Lion Brand Heartland (100% Acrylic) - Nice stitch definition and a lovely, soft texture. Great for blanket projects. A nice selection of heathered and tweedy colorways that are perfect for home décor projects. I used the ‘Rocky Mountains’ colorway for the green blanket shown in photos. Machine washable on gentle cycle. Shop: LionBrand.com | Amazon

Knit Picks Brava Worsted (100% Acrylic) - An affordable yarn available in more than 45 pretty colorways. Ravelry knitters have shared 28,000 projects using this yarn. Machine wash and dry. Shop: KnitPicks.com

Knit Picks Swish Worsted (100% Superwash Merino Wool) - With more than 45,000 projects shared on Ravelry this yarn appears to be one of the top three most actively used superwash wool yarns on the market. Machine wash separately in cold water on delicate cycle. Tumble dry on low setting. Shop: KnitPicks.com

GAUGE:

Garter stitch with US size 8 needles: approximately 15 - 16 stitches = 4”

Exact gauge is not essential.

I used US size 8 knitting needles with Lion Brand Basic Stitch Anti-Pilling (shown in ‘Silver Heather’) and Lion Brand Heartland (shown in ‘Rocky Mountains’ green yarn) in the photos above.

Choose the needle size that gives the best appearance with your yarn and your knitting tension. For best appearance, knitting should be fairly tight.

CIRCULAR NEEDLES:

Knit flat, in one piece, back and forth on circular knitting needles.

In order to accommodate the large number of stitches, long circular needles are recommended.

SKILL LEVEL: Easy

You will need to know how to cast on stitches, knit and purl confidently, read a row by row knitting pattern, bind off stitches and weave in ends.

Once in a while knitters have trouble getting on track with this pattern. I have created a free PDF tutorial for the Meadow Lane Blanket to address the most common mistakes and questions.

KNITTING KITS FROM LION BRAND YARN:

Several of my patterns are available as knitting kits from Lion Brand Yarn. The kits include the PDF digital knitting pattern and all the yarn needed to make the project. Customize the knitting kit by selecting your favorite yarn color(s). Shop all of my knitting kits on LionBrand.com.

Love this blanket! So easy and relaxing to knit, has a lovely squishy bounciness to it. Love it so much I’m already planning to make a smaller one as a baby blanket.
