LYS SPOTLIGHT: Four Purls Yarn Shop in Winter Haven, Florida

This is the third installment of LYS Spotlight which highlights local yarn shops (LYS) that I have enjoyed visiting.

On a recent trip to Florida, I was able to visit Four Purls Yarn Shop in Winter Haven, Florida. My first impression when I stepped in the door of this locally owned yarn shop was… there’s so much yarn! Everyone at the store was warm, welcoming and excited to show me around their lovely shop.

It was amazing to see the wide selection of colorways available in **Emma’s Yarn** at **Four Purls Yarn Shop**. The worsted weight yarn options would work nicely with many of my **scarf and wrap knitting patterns**.

Four Purls Yarn Shop has an extensive selection of yarn that is neatly arranged in a well lit space. The walls are packed with skeins of yarn in every imaginable colorway!

Four Purls Yarn Shop was founded in 2010 and the shop name was inspired by the owners’ four children… their “four purls”.

Their four children spent a lot of time at the family’s store when they were young. While surrounded by yarn growing up, their daughter Emma experimented with dyeing yarn as part of a homeschooling learning experience. When knitters in her parents’ shop asked to purchase Emma’s hand dyed yarn… Emma’s Yarn was born. Now, Four Purls Yarn Shop serves at the “flagship location” stocking the entire collection of Emma’s Yarn. Emma’s Yarn is also sold in yarn shops around the U.S.

**Emma’s Yarn** started as a homeschool project… dyeing yarn to learn about math ratios. When Emma showed her skeins of yarn to knitters in her parents’ yarn shop, there was enthusiastic interest in buying Emma’s yarn. Fast forward a few years and Emma now has a team of people helping create more than 100 colorways in 16 different yarn bases. **Emma’s Yarn Washable Worsted** is one of the beautiful yarns available at Four Purls Yarn Shop.
