Welcome! I’m Mary Lee… the knitter and designer behind Fifty Four Ten Studio. I have been knitting, sewing and crafting since I was about eight years old. I published my first knitting pattern in 2013 and my collection now includes more than 70 designs. Fifty Four Ten Studio is named for the house number of the home my grandparents purchased when my mother was a young girl.

Four Easy Blanket Knitting Patterns - Favorite Patterns for Beginners!

Four Easy Blanket Knitting Patterns - Favorite Patterns for Beginners!

One of the frequent questions I hear from knitters is..."which blanket knitting pattern would be the best choice for a beginning knitter?"

Over the last 4+ years I have designed and published 35 blanket knitting patterns!

All of my blanket knitting patterns are pretty easy to knit.  But, these are my four easiest blanket knitting patterns!

All of these patterns include instructions for multiple sizes so you can use the pattern for a baby blanket, medium size throw or big afghan.

Here's some info about each pattern and links to more info and how to purchase each pattern.

ON THE PORCH BLANKET KNITTING PATTERN

My On the Porch blanket knitting pattern is very easy to knit with worsted or Aran weight yarn. The pattern can also be used with slightly heavier or lighter weight yarn.

The pattern name is inspired by childhood memories of summer evenings on my grandparent’s screened porch. The simple textured stripe design reminds me of the old, painted wood floor of their porch.

The Summer Sidewalk blanket pattern has become a huge favorite for baby blankets...and a great choice for novice knitters. I love hearing from beginning knitters who say they really enjoyed using this pattern to make a special blanket!

Absolutely love this pattern. It’s beautiful and simple. Just what I needed in a baby blanket.
— Tayler (Ravelry knitter)

I used a cotton DK weight yarn...but the pattern will work great with a wide variety of fibers including superwash wool or a blend with man made fibers. And, it works great with worsted weight yarn.

The pattern includes instructions for five blanket sizes.

THE BOULEVARD BLANKET KNITTING PATTERN

The Boulevard Blanket is a FREE knitting pattern.

This blanket is reversible!  And...it's very quick and easy to knit with super bulky weight yarn.

The blanket in the photo below was made with Lion Brand Hometown in 'Washington Denim'.  Visit the Lion Brand Yarn website to see the most complete selection color options in Hometown.

Some knitters have also liked knitting two strands of worsted or bulky weight yarn knit together.

The name for this blanket is inspired by my hometown...Kansas City.  The subtle stripes made me think of all the beautiful streets we have in Kansas City.  An old promotional slogan for the city said "More boulevards than Paris, more fountains than Rome."  I can't confirm if either of these claims are true but we do have many attractive tree lined boulevards in my hometown....thus The Boulevard Blanket.

The pattern includes instructions for six blanket sizes.

The Boulevard Blanket knitting pattern is also free to download on Ravelry.

WHERE THE SIDEWALK ENDS BLANKET KNITTING PATTERN

The ‘Where the Sidewalk Ends’ blanket is fun to knit with super bulky yarn!  The finished blanket is chunky and cozy.

This blanket makes a great gift for a baby, toddler, teenager heading off to college, graduation, first apartment, wedding...and so many other occasions.

The simple design will look great in almost any decor style.  A solid color yarn will show the pattern best.  I love how this blanket looks made with Lion Brand Hometown in 'New York White'.

I’m loving this pattern! So simple, yet looks so nice, and it’s knitting up so quickly!

I made one and gifted it with the book of the same name as a baby shower gift...huge hit!
